The devices, developed by Johnson's mind-reading startup Kernel, are already in medical research machines. Johnson also had discussions with SpaceX and Elon Musk at the beginning of his research on the Mind Reading Helmet. The purpose of the Neuralink Project is to implant electrodes in the human brain.
